Energy efficient and environmentally sustainable features of Leavenworth Chalet ... Leavenworth Chalet was constructed with Premier Panels which are large panels that consist of foam and recycled plywood.  This method eliminates studs in all exterior walls, and has an insulation value more than double of what's found in a standard home. The resulting home is stronger, more energy efficient, and reduces the use of virgin timber products.

Natural flooring? We used a combination of slate tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, custom wood floor in the main living area and wool carpeting in the bedrooms. These natural products don't off-gas and use no plastics or adhesives.  Our custom wood floor material is OSB, which is a fully recycled by-product of milling lumber.  Very unique!

Trex decking? Our decking material is fully recycled, with most of the original product
coming from plastic pop bottles, milk jugs, and sawdust.  Never needs to be treated, never needs to be replaced.

Landscaping? We are slowly but surely trying to restore most of the grounds to its original natural environment.  A mix of native trees including Ponderosa Pines, Aspens, and Firs are planted, with prairie grasses and wild flowers as ground cover.  This design (called a Xeriscape) will help bring in native wildlife and plants, and reduce or eliminate the need for watering.
